About the Athena Awards
The ATHENA Leadership Model is unique in that it focuses on the personal traits of strong, successful leaders. It captures the spirit and collaborative leadership style often exemplified in women leaders while also recognizing the importance of traits such as courageous acts and fierce advocacy in the pursuit of excellence.
The ATHENA Leadership Model tenets include Authentic Self, Celebration and Joy, Collaboration, Courageous Acts, Fierce Advocacy, Giving Back, Learning and Relationships and provide a model for 21st century leadership.
Athena Award Grand Traverse Area honors women leaders who exemplify these traits and make a positive impact in our community. AAUW - Traverse City Area is proud to present these awards and celebrate all the women in our region who are making it a better place and paving the way for future leaders as they go.

Do you know an outstanding woman who lives or works in Antrim, Benzie, Grand Traverse, Kalkaska or Leelanau counties? Do they demonstrate excellence in their business or profession, provide valuable service to improve the quality of life for others in their community, and assist women in reaching their full leadership potential? Then fill out the Nomination Form and submit it by April 28, 2024! This year's ATHENA winner will be presented at the celebration May 9, 2024.
